1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO is similar to its sibling i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ comes with self-emptying capabilities. The i3+ is a great option for those looking for a an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but are willing to manually empty the robot's dustbin when it is full.
Both robots are adept at picking up surface debris on carpets and hard floors and they're excellent in maneuvering around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart map of your home to help the i3+ navigate and clean up efficiently. The i3+ does not have the same obstacle avoidance capabilities as the i7+ or any other top-rated robots that we test. It could get stuck on power cords or socks and have trouble moving between different surfaces, like hardwood and rug.
iRobot suggests that you clean the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or other items it may encounter. Also, keep the dustbin and filters clear to avoid getting blocked. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is depleted, it returns to the docking station and takes the dirt out of the docking station's external dustbin. It then continues cleaning where it left off. The i3+ EVO's batteries last for about an hour and a half of continuous use, and takes about three hours to fully recharge.
2. IRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot i7+ is an excellent model from iRobot's flagship line, and it comes with the latest features. It is self-charging and self-navigating, but the most important feature is its self-emptying bin. This eliminates the need for routine maintenance.
The Roomba i7+ is able to remember up to 10 floor plans and their names with Imprint Smart Mapping, a system that lets it identify rooms to clean them more efficiently. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and you can control your robot via the app or via voice.
In our tests the i7+ was more agile and faster than our second-placed model, the eufy RoboVac G30, and it took large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces types including carpeting. The main advantage it has over the Eufy is its self-emptying bin which eliminates the main sources of maintenance and reduces the cost of maintenance.
We were also impressed with the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We utilized these services to instruct the robot to start, stop, or pause cleaning sessions and also to move around the room and to vacuum a particular area. Connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and easy with the iRobot Home app. We were able, once connected, to speak commands to the i7+, like "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and monitoring the performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
In a world of vacuums that are cordless and feel like minivans or buses, this tiny Dyson model is an automobile. It has the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum for most households, but it also fits perfectly next to the table for a coffee or the bookshelf, where you can wave it around like an enchanted wand.
The V10 is powered with seven cells of energy-dense Lithium-ion batteries that produces power without fading for 60 minutes. Its sophisticated whole-machine filtration system captures allergens and expels clean air back into your home. The specialized head uses rigid nylon bristles to penetrate into carpets and pick up large dust or crumbs. It has three suction modes that can be adjusted to the specific task. The main issue with the V10 is its short running time. The claims of its marketing that it has up to 60 minutes of running time are a bit misleading as CR's tests show. This is an average and not a remarkable time to run an electric cordless vacuum powered by batteries. That's still enough run time to vacuum the majority of a typical-sized home but not long enough to clean every spot (though an additional run-through often does the trick). This model has its own advantages however: it's light and more maneuverable than earlier Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is noticeable superior on low-pile floor carpet.
4. iRobot Roomba 694
One of the most well-known robot vacuums the 694 is an entry-level model that's an excellent choice for people who don't want to invest too much money on a robot. It was able to pick up all kinds of debris and sizes in our tests, and frequently went over the same area multiple times for an efficient clean. The flat front of the unit allows it to reach into corners and along the edges of walls, which is a nice addition.
Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate your home, but it's not equipped with the ability to map that comes with more advanced models like our top picks, the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. It may get stuck on phone cords or low furniture and will often run out of power before returning to its home base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694 because it has less parts that require regular cleaning, is outfitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, has a lower costs for recurring expenses and has more advanced automation abilities and is able to better navigate its own. It also has a larger dustbin, and charges more quickly.
